Guru is Knowledge

People have often been misled by reading scriptures which say that a woman is inferior to man and cannot be an enlightened master. Gurumaaji explains in this humorous yet profound video, that knowledge is beyond the body and all ideas of male or female. The quality of surrender or ’sharanagati’ that a bhakta develops in deep love for the divine, is a very feminine quality.

A bhakta can be male by birth, but surrender makes him very feminine. On the other hand, the path of yoga and sadhana require a lot of determination, which is predominantly a male trait. Our tendencies are not only determined by our body, but also by our inclination towards feminine or masculine qualities.

Great saints like Guru Nanak and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu were male by birth, but very feminine in their love for the divine. Knowledge is much higher than the body. An enlightened master is a personification of knowledge and beyond body and gender. Therefore, to judge a master on the basis of gender shows nothing but ignorance.
