The child sex ratio (CSR) in our country is declining day-by-day. The worse affected are states which are known to be prosperous such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Gujrat. This declining CSR is alarming for the society as it will lead to following problems in the years to come:
• More crime against women
• Imbalance in the society
• Insecurity in the minds of females will hinder the growth of country.

The differentiation between a boy and a girl has been going on since ages. So it will really take some time or may be a lot of time for it to vanish from our society. Since I have been born and brought up in a city like Mumbai, I have encountered this differentiation very less, though to some extent from some of my family members but that has also vanished long time back.
But when we talk of remote towns and villages where I have gone for trips and tours this is very prevalent. This is not wanting of a girl child needs to be taken as a result of many social evils. This cannot be solved just by saying that a boy is equivalent to a girl and there is nothing that a girl cannot do that a boy can.

Men are only a part of women; women are early powerful to men. If given the right kind of opportunities they can do wonders.
India has produced women like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams who brought name to our country. It is the woman who gives birth to a child, brought up the child, do all household chores and modern women have even started working, in no way they inferior to men. Then why this discrimination?

Shakti is a program run by Anandmurti Gurumaa for the welfare of girls. In this program financial aid is given to those girls who are orphan, daughters of freedom fighter, daughter of widows. Through this financial aid these girls are provided with education up to 12th level. Now a day’s computer knowledge is also being given to them. Many sevadars/disciples go to different schools and are making girls aware of computers usage and Internet usage. By this program Gurumaa is trying to make girls aware of their own strengths, to stand on their own feet.

I am proud to say girls can take more care of their parents. So we should take special steps to educate girl child. Educating a girl means to educate the whole family. And Shakti is a very good step towards educating a girl child. One major point according to Shakti program is to give computer education that is good. Because today’s world is a world of computers. In villages people do send their boys to cities to learn computers but not to girls. So they remain unaware of it. And by providing computer education to girls we make them stand on their own feet.

Shakti, as this name describes its meaning that Shakti is power, dare. Woman has more power than a man. Now a days, a woman is equal to men, she alone can do much better work or hard work than men. for examples Sunita Williams, Kalpana Chawla, Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi etc. people know them, they heard their names ,their fame still they don’t want a girl. I don’t know what the disadvantages of a girl,why they don’t want to get a girl. Why they kill them?

‘Shakti’ itself is a word which means power, strength and when it is contrasted with a women this its meaning really becomes more important, big and more valuable.

Its really a thing to be shamed upon that a country like India where a shall girl is worshipped as a ‘Kanjak’ in that country such crimes such as Female feticide, importance to boy child and neglecting the birth of girl child are being done.

Myself being a girl, I think that it’s really a big topic to be discussed as it would led to destruction of the future because there is only and only a women who can the give birth.

“Saare bandhan hain sirf naari ko hi lekar,
Apne liye saare adhikaar pehle se hi le kar baithe hain nar”
This is the real mental thought or the fact which has dominated the society since ages. Today the increasing number of women in the work force may indicate that we have finally attained empowerment for women but the ground reality is different. Even today a huge number of girls are deprived of the basic right of education and as always girls are even today considered as disability.

Naari men hai vo shakti,
Jo hai bhaari pad sakti,
Naari kabhi aadmi ki baraabari kar nahi sakti,
Kyunki vo us jitna kabhi gir nahi sakti!

It is really exciting to know that a program called Shakti has been initiated to give importance to woman which we have been lacking much in India.
Let start with what are the various problems with a girl child. We have seen the video shown to us on Shakti and we learnt a lot from that video. Those facts which were new to us. We can see that in India the sex ratio is so less that there are not enough girls for boys to even marry. All this is just because of our old myths which we have been following from last too many years.
