Who is a Sadhak ?
Who is a Sadhak? We often take this word for granted and use it to address people who have a little religious or spiritual inclination. But is this enough to be a ‘Sadhak’? Gurumaaji therefore throws light on the actual meaning and state of a ‘Sadhak’ by elaborating on the sayings of Saint Kabir.
Gurumaaji profoundly describes the attributes of a ‘Sadhak’, she edifies that ‘Sadhak’ is the one who has come to enjoy his solitude. She clarifies that solitude does not mean to be in isolation rather it means that mind has reached a state in which it enjoys being away from the crowd of ever changing thoughts, notions and ideas. The mind of a ‘Sadhak’ is drenched in the wine of divine love and it dances and rejoices like a drunken elephant, not aware of its surroundings, lost in its own ecstasy.
Gurumaaji refers to a ‘Sadhak’ as a King and a Pauper at the same time. She says that a ‘Sadhak’ is like a King as it has reached the state of endless satiety and She calls him a Pauper because in the process of attaining bliss, ‘Sadhak’ starts seeing his own faults and weaknesses. As he is aware of his own drawbacks he can never be proud of himself. ‘Sadhak’ has left behind the burden of pride and has come out of the shackles of attachment.
According to Saint Kabir, Gurumaaji says a ‘Sadhak’ is immortal and indestructible. He is beyond the reach of death. His heart is pure, filled with compassion for all and with love and crave for the Divine. For attaining this state Gurumaaji says one should sincerely walk the path of self discovery, by making land a platform for meditation, by wearing the garb of purity on this destructible body, one should forward his journey towards enlightenment.
