Use time wisely and well!
Gurumaa made a comparison of the average age of human beings over the ages and mentioned that in Sat yug, the average age was 1 lakh years and now in Kal yug, the average age is only 120 years; this too is rare these days. A major part of our life is spent sleeping, a necessary yet not a very productive activity and if calculated in years, almost half a person’s life is slept away. How little then is the time remaining in our hands to achieve our goal of awakening!
Saints and sages exhort us that life is slipping away each moment, imperceptibly, yet blinded by ignorance, we are blissfully unaware that death is stalking us. Each moment therefore is an irreversible opportunity to be aware, to be totally present and mindful. When we eat, we should cultivate the thought that may the subtle essence of this food make my mind satvic and nourish my body too. When we interact with people, we do so lovingly and respectfully, yet realizing fully well that on the journey of life there may be companionship for a brief while but inherently, one is always alone. Only the Lord is always with us.
