Be the charioteer of your destiny

What is more powerful – ‘Purushartha or Karma’. The law of karma states that we have to bear the fruits of our ‘karmas’, whether good or bad.
But the question is as to who keeps an account of our ‘Karmas’? The answer: our very own own sub-conscious mind. Therefore, it may be easy to fool others but not our self. This subconscious mind records all our ‘karmas’. Even the inputs provided by our senses, whether audio or visual, of greed or sex, depression or the suppressed emotions, everything just gets recorded into the subconscious. Even the memories of our past lives are stored in the subconscious. Besides, each moment, new and new impressions are being added to our already accumulated impressions or samskāras. Samskāras are nothing but the perceptions in the form of experiences and these impressions of experiences, whether good or bad.

From samskāras came the vaasana(mental tendencies) and if vaasana gets mature, it becomes a desire, and if this desire is given due attention, it becomes sankalpa. And once the sankalpa(firm resolution) has been formed, then no one can stop the karma to happen.

But it is possible to break free from this vicious circle. This is where satsanga helps. With the help of satsanga, a person is able to improve his consciousness to an extent that these mental tendencies do not come out. And even if they do, a firm resolution (sankalpa) helps not to let these transform into karmas.
