Power of Prayer and Mantra
Prayer connects us to the divinity in and around us. Real prayer is always heartfelt; it is not merely parroting a few words penned by someone else. We can pray silently in our mind or aloud, but we should ardently feel the prayer, not merely say it.
The ancient Indian rishis were scientists of the highest calibre. Even without sophisticated instruments, they were able to discover the powerful effects that sound vibrations have on our body and mind. They used this understanding of the science of sound to give expression to their most profound experiences. In deep states of meditation, the rishis experienced the subtlest sound vibration happening at the cellular level in their body – they called it ‘OM’. This vibration is resonating universally at the molecular level in everything.
When we chant the mantra ‘OM’, beneficial changes take place in our mind and body. We feel energised, charged with positive vibrations; we are blessed with great strength of purpose, maturity of understanding and the power to realise our divinity.
