Q: Most of times, I can see the dreams in the night. I see something, which is going to happen in my future; usually it is in the early mornings. This situation creates fear in my mind because I have already seen many things like my friend’s death in my dreams and it happened. Why do I see these and how can I get over come this problem?

A: Chayanika, our minds are interconnected with all the other minds and also, there is one deep layer of our mind which can transgress the time. Time is mind. When, we say time, it means past, present and future. This division of past, present, future is made or believed by conscious mind but at the level of the subconscious mind and the macro-unconscious mind, there is no time, and at that level, it is possible for someone to see what’s going to happen in the future or what has happened in the past?

If you are getting scared of these dreams; then it is pretty normal and very human because this is not something which you wanted, it’s very much clear from your question because you are asking, why am I seeing these dreams? On other hand if you had been a spiritual practitioner; you had been jumping on the roof and announcing to the people that you can see the future. Know this, whosoever, has taken the birth, will die. Even if we want to or do not want it to happen, it will still happen. Every one is living according to their karmas and our karmas are very complex. There is a huge, huge chain of the karmas which is waiting to give us the fruit. That fruit can be painful, can give us misery, can give us pain, can give us happiness, success, failure, disease, health and we never know which sanchit karma i.e. the accumulated karmas of innumerable past lives, is going to become the reality of my present. Karma is a force and force never dies. Whatever you have done at any time, at any of your past life, those karmas are going to come back to you. This rule applies upon every one. So whether you wanted or you didn’t want, you cannot do away with your sanchit karma. Even this ability to see the future in your dreams has something to do with the fact that, you must had worked upon your sub-conscious, may be in some life. Life is really mysterious. There aren’t any sure shot answers.

Any how, don’t be scared and may be when you go for your sleep do the Mahamritunjay jap and also in the morning again do the Mahamritunjay jap but know it for certain that you cannot change the fundamental rules of this nature and in this nature everything is going to die, every thing is perishable and every thing which is happening today, every drama is going to end. So, why be scared, broaden your vision and see the life as it is happening.
