Mysterious force of Karma
When we do a good deed, even if it is just giving someone a smile, greeting a stranger warmly, or running an errand for a sick friend, we ourselves feel good; we also feel good about ourselves. In the same way, if we hurt someone intentionally or unintentionally, we ourselves feel pain, whether we acknowledge it or not. Why is this so? This is because of the force of karma.
Like a computer registering data, whatever we think, speak and do gets registered in the vast computer of the universe. The thoughts, words and actions we perform which make us a better human being make good karma for us and vice versa. Good karma is like a bank account of good deeds, which reward us with sweet fruits and bad karma is the bitter fruit of unwholesome thoughts and actions which give pain and suffering.
Our minds operate on the conscious, subconscious and unconscious levels and because we all come from the same source, Paramatman, at a very deep level we are all connected. Whatever we do, say, feel, or think affects others; whatever they do, say, feel or think affects us too. Elucidating this mysterious force, Gurumaa tells us to understand that whatever we sow, we will reap. Thus, always think twice before saying something, always think twice before doing something and keep your conscience clear, as the law of karma is always working.
