A mature approach to living
We need to decide how we want to live our lives. The calendar proclaims 1st of January as New Year but actually, it is just another day! People celebrate New Year in different ways, and there is generally a lot of hype and drama associated with it. It is true that a ‘new’ year is being ushered in and people are excited and want to celebrate but it should be a positive approach and not detrimental to our health and well-being.
These days in big cities people are indulging in drinking, gambling and swap parties to celebrate the New Year. They are very happy with these so-called pleasures of the senses but these are dangerous pastimes with negative repercussions. The New Year can also be heralded in positively by a fervent, heartfelt prayer to the Lord, that may it start a new chapter in my life, filled with goodness and purity.
Thus it is up to us to make productive, informed choices about living our life. It is always fruitful to live according to the injunction of scriptures and the teachings of Gurus and wise men as these are time-tested, honored methods to make us mature, happy human beings walking on the path to wisdom and growth.
