Gurumaa explains the zenith of Sufi experience by quoting the example of Al Hallaj Mansoor, a legendary Iranian Sufi master who stood unperturbed and continued to smile like a king even while being put to brutal death. When asked about the ultimate height of love, Al Hallaj unflinchingly replied… you will see it tomorrow.., day after… and day to day after… as well. Going into deep trans and feeling one with divinity, he often said “Ana al-haqq” (I am the God). But in dearth of understanding, people found it offensive and Al Hallaj was proven guilty for having shown disrespect and disgrace to God. Through this case in point, Gurumaa explains the duplicity of society. The society never accepts when the master is alive. It is ready to accept the Masters only when they are gone. Just the way, people never accepted Christ but church, Al Hallaj too was brutally murdered. Standing like and emperor with a beam of smile on his face, Al Hallaj readily accepted being subject to brutal case of death. With this instance, Gurumaa also puts forth the state of a true mystic that even in the worst of times, the enlightened one stays calm, silent, tranquil, and unperturbed.
