Q: It is said that Maya is God’s power and it is created by him only. But I cannot understand why God first created Maya and all humans go through with so much of suffering and then so few are able to look beyond it by God’s grace and able to enjoy God’s love. Why does God not reveal himself to us? If he does so, we will be instantly in love with God. We love him; we want to love him but why is God not revealing himself to us?

A: Asim, No.1, God has not created Maya. No. 2, God is not different from Maya. When a shadow is formed, can you see this shadow getting formed, whatever the form the shadow is? So we can say that Maya is just a shadow of God. You cannot separate both, but if you keep on looking at the shadow you fall in love with it.

Have you ever seen the dance form called ‘shadow dance’ in Thailand? You do not see the real characters, you just see their shadows and those shadows do fantastic dance and for the last maybe 200 years, this practice is going and people go to watch this shadow dance and they love it.

Maya is just a shadow and if you do not want to come out of this identification, then you would never come out of attachment with Maya. God has not created anything, creation is a very wrong word. We can say it is a creativity, constant creativity which is happening; things are happening and God is that existence upon whom this all creativity is unfolding, opening up in front of us - great, great spectacular visions, sights, sounds, tastes & smells.

There is no way that suddenly God opens up himself, reveals himself to us. God is not a different being, God is not a person, God is not a form. How can a formless existence reveal itself to you? Asim, your idea about God is pretty corrupt, you really do not know these things. You are just following myths which have been created by the majority of the religious people & you think that this is what God is, but it is not like that.
