Breath and mind: Profound relation

Q: In a shivir, you had said that those who have a breath count of more than 14 per minute are of really wavering & wandering mental state. I too feel wandering all the time! Please help me as I want to go beyond this state. My breath count is 30/ per minute.

A: You really need to work on your breath & that is, practice elongating it. You may begin by initially lying straight with your back on the floor; you keep your right hand just beneath your rib cage and take a long breath and let it come out and do this practice everyday for 10 to 15 minutes.

And maybe, do some running also, because when you run, at that time there is extra load or pressure on your lungs and the whole system wakes up to take a longer breath. Initially, it might be difficult, so you may begin with walking fast & then running for sometime; & then walking & then running for sometime & then again walking. Do some physical work too, that will really help.

And then, give time to yourself with your spine erect, lumbar straight and then elongate your breath. Or you lie down on your back, keep your right hand beneath the ribcage & follow the breath and try to elongate it. Don’t worry, soon you will see good results coming.
