Die and be a Murid
Enter into the fragrant world of sufism with Gurumaaji and pick a few flowers from the sufi mystic’s garden. Each word of the mystic is a profound lesson for a seeker. The very first lesson is Die and become a Murid!
Who is a Murid? A Murid is one whose mind is dead, totally empty. Only a Murid can be called a true disciple.
Sufism is not a path for those who wish to gain something and become bigger. We as humans are so ambitious that we always want to gain something and become bigger. We carry this attitude even on the path to God. But such an attitude does not lead one towards truth. The path of the sufi is exactly the reverse. It is a path that requires great courage because everything is lost; all the ideas and dogmas of the mind, everything that makes the ego fatter and bigger is left behind. In short ‘I’ is completely destroyed. And only one who is lost thus, really gains anything.
Sufism has nothing to do with religion. One can be a hindu, christian or sikh, yet be a sufi at heart. It has nothing to do with the external and everything to do with the internal.
So, look into your heart and ask yourself… Am I prepared to be a sufi? Am I prepared to die and become a Murid?
