To defy the fallacy associated to the fact that “women cannot be Mystic” Gurumaa explains the meaning of the word ‘Purushottam’ by quoting Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. These men were venerated as ‘Purushottam’ not because of they being ‘divine men…’ but that they had achieved the balance of yin (female, passive) and yang (male, active) energies within their bodies. Radha too was a complete woman and had attained this balance of energies within. The only reason for the word ‘Purushottam’ not getting associated with Radha was its masculinity.
Gurumaa illustrates several points wherein women never got their due recognition or respect. Be it the Guru of Zen master ‘Bodhi Dharma’ who is hardly known despite being the power behind Bodhi Dharma’s enlightenment or historical facts wherein great Mystics like Gargi, despite asking relevant question, is insulted in the whole assembly.
Having inherent traits like surrender, ability to absorb and dissolve within, it is much easier for a women reach great heights in spirituality. But with persistent hostile conditions for women mystics, neither did she ever try to fight for place, position, status or honor nor did she ever wish to attain even trivial ego required to carry on the Master disciple relationship.
Quoting her own example, while in class 10th and being invited to a Satsang, Gurumaa highlights the envy and resentment shown by other saints who felt highly offended on listening to some of her hard facts like, “To repeat the words of an enlightened one without having any actual experience is as good as to make oneself a fool”.
