Can animals attain moksha?
Q: Respected Gurumaa pranam, I want to know if our pet or any animal dies and we bury him with full respect and do sukhmani sahib or jap ji sahib or any mantra for a dog or a cow and sprinkle amrit and do ardas. Does it help them to take a birth as a human being in the next birth? Do they get mukti from taking 84 lakh yonis? Some dogs like to sit in the prayer room and it is said that a cow used to listen to a satsang. Kindly tell me if prayer really helps them.
A: Vaneet, I know you have a great love for animals and you treat them at par to the human beings and whether they will get a human birth or not I don’t know but I think so what you do is a very nice & sweet gesture. So keep on doing that & don’t bother about what would happen to them even people like great devotees, sadhus and mahatmas some time even they don’t know what is going to happen to them after the death. What can I say abut what would happen to the dog, whom you love & whom you buried with respect? It’s a nice thing just let this love float to these mute animals which are definitely very lovable.
