Answer Zikr is normally done in a group, where all those individuals who are like minded, who have the same passion for love, who have this eagerness in their heart, thirst in their mind to know, to seek the divine, get together and then they generate this very positive vibe and a divine atmosphere is created willfully with the power of prayer and the love.
Yes, you can do Zikr alone too but then it won't carry that volcanic power in it. Zikr is done in group by lovers of God, by lovers of the Sheikh and it generates a powerful ambience. The benefit of doing it in a group is this that even if you are weak person you will be given the chance, you will be given the opportunity to experience the similar experience, the similar state which the advanced or mature seekers have.
We had various sessions of Zikr in Ashram and it has been witnessed & experienced by scores of people that it is indeed the most vibrating, most powerful experience the energy which gets generated when the Mantra "hu" or “La Ilaha Illilah” done or any other similar Sufi Mantra is done with breath, with that synchronicity, with that union of hearts and souls, the experience is marvelous.
