Feel restlessness in left leg during Yoga Nidra!

Q : I used to do Yog Nidra Dhyan regularly. The only problem was that I would fall asleep in between but of late I have started feeling sort of restlessness in my left leg. I am alert all the time but I have to move my leg then I get distracted at times. I used to become so restless that I quit doing the Dhayan and feeling very disappointed. I am now started doing Sakriya Dhayan in the morning and I am perfectly ok. There is no such uneasiness while doing this Dhayan. Gurumaa please guide me.

Answer Running away from the problem is not the solution. You have a problem in Yog Nidra, you should address that first. The particular restlessness in the leg is a sign that there could be some problem in that area which you are able to see or there is some great stiffness in your nerves or there could be a non-usage or over usage of some muscles. Before you do your Yog Nidra, cultivate the habit of doing yog-asanas, especially asanas which specialize in leg extensions. If you practice these asanas, problem of your leg will go away. If there is no one to teach you now, then you can do some simple exercised like lifting your legs and place it on the wall. Keep your butts closer to the wall and let your legs stay up, more blood will flow in your legs, in your veins which will clear up, energize, oxygenate your veins. There is a possibility that you have very coarse veins. Many people don't know what it is, they just know that there is some problem and there is restlessness in that area so it could be a sign of problem in your body. It has nothing to do with Yog Nidra. I think you should do some asanas. Gurumaa
