How to convince people going against ‘different caste marriages’?

Q : Respected Gurumaa, I am Bharat Prajapati from Ahmedabad. I have completed MCA (Master of Computer Application) from Gujarat University and right now I am working with Apple i-Phone Software Development. I want to ask you what is the problem with different caste Marriage (galat kya hai)? I want to marry a girl but her Mom and Dad are not agreeing to a different caste marriage. What do I do now?

Well Bharat, if you are in love with this girl & if this girl loves you too as you claim, then maybe you can sit with them & explain things. In my opinion, castes are man-made; castes are something which long ago the elders had decided to mark each & everyone as per their trade, as per their jobs and as per their capabilities.

This is something which I am strictly against. But India is still living in dark-aged old theories where a Prajapati cannot marry a Patel and a Patel cannot marry a Prajapati. This word Prajapati is something which I myself came to know about recently in my US trip where lots of people belonging to the Prajapati community came to see me & then I understood from another Patel to Patel conversation that Patels are considered higher than them.

That is how I came to know that every region, every state has this disease, where some human being is thinking that I am higher than the other one. I do not believe in any caste system, so I will not say that you should not get married; but yes, there would be a risk these days. There is a stupid thing too that is going on – ‘honour killing’. So be aware, do not go to extremes where you may lose your life.

Because people are mad, people are crazy, our society is not sane, they are filled with crazier people who have crazy ideas and then they won’t allow two people to live their life, they would rather butcher them because they have denounced the lines which they have drawn. So it is something very personal too & I would just give you a word of caution that there are a lot many risks. Think it over again & if both of you can stand against this caste system, fine & if you cannot do it, then forget it.
