Does sitting for mantra japa means meditation?

Q : Pranam Gurudev. I am Vikas, 22 years old. I want to know whether while sitting in meditation should I mentally chant the Guru mantra you have given me?

Yes Vikas, you should do your Guru mantra and you should not call it meditation, that is called doing japa. That is fine, do it in your mind, the mantra which I have given you.
