Transcend the Mind

If you want to transcend something then transcend your mind, because as long as your mind is present, there will be conflict. There is attachment only because of the mind; there is greed only because of the mind. The mind is responsible for its own journeys; it is the mind that is the cause of ignorance. The mind is the cause of everything. Therefore leave the mind itself.

Thousands of thoughts are in your mind, but not all become passions, some thoughts get transformed into karma or action.
And of course the mind’s flights of fancy are quite amazing. The mind thinks of many things, wants many things, dreams many dreams and builds many castles in the air. However, not every thought can be changed into a creation; many thoughts remain in the realm of your mind only. Thoughts do cross your mind, but whether to convert those thoughts into action depends on your intellect. Before the thoughts form in the mind, they are present in the seed form known as samskaras – fundamental subtle impressions. Good, bad, auspicious, inauspicious, knowledge, ignorance – all kinds of samskaras have left their impressions on your mind and it is these samskaras that become thoughts.

There can be two ways of living: one is to live in which mind controls you and for such people the mind is the inspiration and controller; or the other way is where you command the mind. Right now you are living under the control of your mind; you do everything that the mind commands. In the other method, you live away from the mind in your own true self, you become one with your simple, natural temperament; understand the mysteries of yourself and the mind. At the point that you begin understanding this mystery, the mind starts becoming still, and as the mind begins to get still, you get the first glimpses of Godliness.

Remember that it is only the mind that is between God and you, nothing else is. Therefore remember, you will not be able to see God through your mind; on the contrary you have to transcend the mind to experience it. You will not be able to know God through your mind, God will never fit into the boundaries of the mind, do not even try it! The mind has to be necessarily transcended. When the mind dies, you live and so long as the mind is living, you are dead. Darkness and light cannot live together: the mind is darkness and you are light, therefore there has to be either light or darkness. You are a lamp whose glow never dies, but you do not know your own true nature.

To attain enlightenment from the lamp of consciousness shining within us, it is essential to remove the wall of the mind from between. Therefore, transcend your mind and experience that you are that lamp which has neither oil, nor wick, but gives out never-ending light, so much illumination and so much radiance.
